2012 Challenge

So... I've decided I need a challenge for this year (apart from (or maybe alongside) my NYR and completing my uni degree...) and thought about writing a devotional booklet- short, Biblical meditations probably about current issues, life as a t(w)eenager, being thankful, how to live a Christian life etc... all with practical applications and Biblical references... Perhaps something similar to my series on the fruits of the Spirit (oops I never finished that one) or some of my other blog posts, or maybe in a completely different style altogether... Lots of topics, or indepth on just a couple... I'm not sure, it's still all in the brainstorming/thinking about stage. And I might need some help. So.... Good or bad idea? Any suggestions? Budding co-authors? Topics? Issues you want me to research for you? Style? Favourite Bible verses? Hints or tips? Please pass them on (comment/email/fb/talk to me)! Cheers :)

P.S. Of course I will publish some on here, if I ever get that far :)

Highlights, Lowlights, and Tunnellights

Just because I feel like blogging today (any chance that I'm procrastinating?), here's some of my highlights from the past few weeks...
  • Going to the cricket and watching the Perth Scorchers win their 20/20 match
  • NYC 2012 (I will hopefully blog about this sometime in the near future)
  • Quality time with friends (well all time with them is quality!)
  • Buying a digital piano and playing lots of music
  • Getting TWO cards from overseas... Miss you Mrin!!
  • Getting two big paychecks
  • Seeing my sister officially get a boyfriend (!)
  • Designing my (hopefully!) granny flat (yeah, I'm getting old...)
  • Planning my Tassie trip
But there can't be so many highlights without lowlights to keep me human...
  • Lots of work (not too bad but I have to write something here...)
  • Missing people
  • Injuring myself playing volleyball
  • Not getting enough sleep
  • Thinking about uni again... (blergh!) Holidays are awesome, in case you didn't know. And I have a summer unit next week...
  • Writing REDC assignments (well, that's what I'm supposed to be doing...)
And some things I'm really looking forward to... despite having some lowlights and loooong days, there's always light at the end of the tunnel. At the moment, these things are quite motivating:
  • Not getting up early tomorrow morning
  • 9 days off work (beginning tomorrow)
  • Going to the WACA on Friday and Saturday to watch Australia vs India
  • Tassie trip- just three and a half weeks away!!
:) :) :) :)

And another post bites the dust. Now I'm going to download some music, and perhaps begin this essay. Oh I am shocking.

1st January 2012

It's time for a New Years Resolution. Last night, we could celebrate the end of 2011 and welcome in 2012. New Years Eve is always a special night. There's something exciting about staying up till 12 and having lots of good food and drink with company of family and friends. It's a time of reflection, thinking back upon the last year- its ups and downs, its joys and sorrows, its good days and its bad. There's a lot to think about. Personal growth, family life, friends, the church community, the wider society, the world... the weather, politics, crime, work and business, our assets and bank balance... our personal achievements, the goals we reached, and the aims we didn't quite conquer... and then it's time to make some new goals. Time to think of a new aim for 2012.

Randomiser (2015) - that's me- conducted an uneducated survey this week, and improper results suggest some rather imaginative statistics. When Perth citizens were quizzed about their NYRs, the results were rather fishy. Approximately 70% of participants focused on shellfish ideas about losing weight or increasing muscle mass. Another 15% took the bait when it came to career ambitions, or finding a new job. Herring some people talk about new outsanding house plans got rather boring after a while- that's another 10%. The remaining 5% were either hooked on drifting with the current themes, or something along the line of seagreed, or moving about frequently like prawns in a chess game. So, in summary, 100% of Perth citizens would love to sea themselves in a better financial situation that's not too tight around the belt.

On a more serious note, I'm not one for NYRs. But this year is a little bit different. I'm not sure if I've ever shared this song on my blog before, but it will always be a favourite. This is my NYR for 2012. That God will take and mold me, because I don't want to go through the motions, but live each day with passion for God and His glory.

To my blog readers, I wish you God's blessings for 2012. May it be a year full of joy and happiness, and may God continue to guide and protect you on the path of life. Continue to put your strength and trust in Him. And let him who glories, glory in the Lord.

P.S. This comic was too good not to share :)
