Mary and the Lamb

Mary had a little lamb,
His fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The Lamb was sure to go.
He followed her to school each day,
Twasn’t even in the rule.
He made the children laugh and play,
To have a Lamb at school.

And then the rules all changed one day,
Illegal it became.
To bring the Lamb of God to school,
Or even speak His Name.
Everyday got worse and worse,
And days turned in to years.
Instead of hearing children laugh,
We heard gun shots and tears.
What must we do to stop the crime,
That’s in our schools today?
Let’s let the Lamb come back to school,
And teach our kids to pray.

live. love. LAUGH

So, while I'm living and loving, I'm also laughing. Just found these on my computer, thought they're worthy a share.

Have a laughly day!

Beginnings

Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted on here! Much too long, really. And so much has happened over the past month. To keep it brief, I'll simply say that finishing the school year, spending time with family and friends, celebrating Christmas and New Year, house-sitting, being a couch potato (i.e. having holidays) and planning have taken up my time. So, Happy New Year to you all, may God bless you in 2013 (the 50 weeks left anyway)! But being in January 2013 isn't the only reason for the title of my post. Because as of the 1st of January I have been employed as a full-time teacher! The beginning of a career! Yes, I've done some teaching before. But now I'm starting the real thing- my own class, and all the responsibilities, challenges, and joys that come with it. It's so exciting!

I've spent the first time planning in my classroom, sitting at my own teacher's desk. I've put some new books on the shelf. I've looked through the curriculum file. I've collated songs for my song book (yep, lots of singing in my class). I've seen the boxes full of new pens, rulers, and books waiting for me to give out to the kids on the first day of school. I've written down what I want to do on the first day of the school term. I've started planning and writing programs. I've done lots and lots of thinking.

And right now, all I can think about is how thankful I am for these beginnings. I am starting something that I've looked forward to for as long as I can remember. I'm starting something that's taken 13 years of schooling and 4 years of university studies to get to, and I certainly haven't finished learning yet. And I'm thankful to God for giving me this job, for giving me this opportunity, for giving me the talents and the ability to begin. He is amazing! May He continue to be my Strength and Guide.
