Ouch. No more indoor soccer goal-keeping for me. After 2 doctor's appointments and an x-ray, I found out this afternoon that I have a fractured finger. It is fractured in the joint space on my second knuckle, and the fragment is rotated. That makes a bit of sense to me, but it's all doctor talk and that's about all I understood. Apart from the fact that I've also been referred to a hand specialist plastic surgeon. The doctor was very aware of the fact that I play piano and guitar, so she's also ensuring that I get full movement back in my joints so that hopefully it heals properly and I can play again. Now to see what the specialist says...
This photo was taken (shocking webcam photo, sorry) on Wednesday evening...
How it happened... I was playing indoor soccer on Monday night (as per usual) in my usual position as goalie, I stopped a goal and realised that my finger hurt quite a bit. I dismissed it a bit, because it's pretty easy in indoor soccer to get sore, and then continued to play the rest of the game. When I got home I put some ice on it for half an hour, went to a Tupperware party, and then put it on ice as I went to bed. The next morning it was quite bruised and swollen, and some staff members at school convinced me to go to the doctor. So I made an appt for that afternoon (Tuesday). The doctor pretty much straight away sent me for x-rays, and I just got in. Then late on Wednesday afternoon I was asked to make an appointment to discuss the x-ray. Straight away I started worrying a bit because that most likely meant it wasn't just sprained. Then today I left school a little bit early to see the doctor again. She told me the above news.
I'm just getting over it, but thanks Chantelle for letting me debrief on you!! xx
